Black Walnut proudly participated in the Houston Zoo’s annual Feast with the Beasts event on Friday night, May 2, 2025.

This exclusive evening brought together some of Houston’s top culinary establishments for a night of food, music, and wildlife experiences. The event helps support the care and feeding of the more than 6,000 animals that call Houston Zoo home.

Guests at the sold-out event enjoyed Black Walnut’s signature Coconut Shrimp Tacos—crispy coconut-crusted shrimp paired with tangy slaw and fresh herbs, all wrapped in warm tortillas. The dish was a crowd favorite, offering a taste of the elevated comfort food that Black Walnut is known for.

With two convenient locations near the Houston Zoo—on Memorial Drive and in Rice Village—Black Walnut Kitchen & Bar is a go-to spot for zoo visitors and locals alike. Both locations offer breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a full bar, making them perfect for dining before or after exploring Hermann Park and the Museum District.

Feast with the Beasts, presented by TXU Energy, is one of the zoo’s premier fundraising events, supporting wildlife conservation efforts both locally and globally. Attendees sampled cuisine from over 60 of Houston’s best restaurants, enjoyed live music, and experienced the zoo after hours.

Black Walnut Kitchen & Bar is honored to have been part of this meaningful event and looks forward to continuing its support of the Houston Zoo and the community.
